Tina Davies's rating

A powerful, evocative piece of theatre. This company is brand new, fresh, captivating. I went to see this play randomly and I was mesmerised by the imaginative use of space, simple props such as a sheet used to beautiful effect. The timing of the pauses and action has a scent of Complicite's theatrical human perfection. The lead woman, Kate Hewitt, oozes life, presence and raw heartfelt emotion. You feel her naivety, frustration and ultimate loss deep within yourself as you watch. The male lead is good, but slightly less convincing in his role, or perhaps he is made paler by Hewitt's theatrical force. He does, however, shine as he takes a more active role, exhibiting a brilliantly shocking explosion of anger. The mother in law, dressed in a black, grieving her husband but also blackening the atmosphere in a core way... there is a sense that the damaged situation is derived from her control and the unhealthy mother-son relationship that is stifling. If you go and see anything in Edinburgh this summer - this has to be top of the list.

Who should go see it.
Everyone - it is a truly stunning piece !!!
