First of all it's probably important to say that when my friend and I bought tickets to Craig Campbell we thought he was a stand up comedian.  Apparently, he used to do stand up but these days he does something more of a one man show which is relatively humorous but just not what we were expecting.  To be honest, while each of us chuckled once or twice at the over-the-top (what can only be described as) bathroom humor, we weren't nearly as amused as the two front rows of the show.  Honestly, I wanted to know a) what they were on that made it so funny and b) if they were his friends.

The show was by no means bad.  I've seen some baaaaaaaad shows at the fringe and this was not one of them.  It didn't have much of a chance with us because we were expecting stand up and got something quite different.  Most importantly, though, while the story was a decent one (starting and ending in a prison and the middle bits explaining why and how he got there) it was just TOO over the top.  I have no issue whatsoever with cursing and will tell a solid sex/fart/whatever joke any day of the week, but when every other word is four letters (can i swear on here?  better not just to be safe) and every other joke is about how flexible she was, it kind of loses it's taboo punch.

Before the show we were chatting with the (most annoying) flyer girl who told us how excited she was to see the show.  We asked if he was any good and what we should expect.  She responded "Do you like horror?" to which my friend immediately replied "no" -- well this threw her off a bit so she came back with "Do you like comedy?" which left us both at a loss for words because, um, we'd bought tickets to a comedy show and who the eff doesn't like comedy... and her final question was "do you like theatre?" -- uhh we guess...-- "then you'll love this show!!"  Horror?  not so much.  Comedy?  eh.  Theatre?  Ok yeah I guess that fits...

Who should go see it.
drunk people?  definitely don't bring children or your parents.  your parents might enjoy it but you really don't want to watch it with them.
